25th Anniversary Year
"If one of your brethren becomes poor, and falls into poverty among you, then you shall help him, like a stranger or a sojourner, that he may live with you. Take no usury or interest from him; but fear your God, that your brother may live with you. You shall not lend him your money for usury, nor lend him your food at a profit" Lev 25:35-37 NKJV
Zimbabwe, Africa
Zimbabwe Africa, a formerly prosperous nation now reduced to 75% unemployment. Zimbabwe is a nation with one of the worst human rights records in Africa, run by an 80 year old dictator who may have lost touch with reality.
This nation has one of the highest percentages of AIDS in sub-Sahara Africa. For two weeks Ron & Bernadette ministered with Awake Grace Ministries in Zimbabwe, Africa. The people are precious yet they suffer because of the devastation that has been brought upon that nation.
The ministry began with a youth conference where more than 1000 young people from ages 15 and up were present. Bernadette ministered to the young ladies on Sexual Integrity. They were confronted with the Biblical truths that are in opposition to their culture. Afterwards many came up to ask more questions and for personal ministry. It was powerful life changing ministry and we know that it made a lasting impact on the young people.
At the same time Ron was ministering to the young men. In the evening Ron preached to a combined gathering of all the participants. It was powerful ministry with many people being healed and many restored in their faith.
Ron encouraged the young people to achieve their dreams with the help of God in spite of the circumstances or the economy. With faith in God Zimbabwe could see a new day of righteous leadership and God's blessings upon the land once again.
More on the Zimbabwe trip next month.
Mexico
A few months ago we shared the need of the Children's Home for a new van.
The one we are now using has over 300,000 miles on it. These are hard miles. Our desire at that time was to buy a good used van for $5,000.00. We have not been able to find a used full sized van in Mexico. The paper work to take one into the country makes it next to impossible to do it legally. Therefore, we must buy in Mexico. There is now a new van for sale in Mexico made by Nissan. This van has a 4 cylinder engine which makes it easy on gas and will seat 18 passengers. The selling price is $24,000.00. We have been able to put together $10,000.00 so far. We need to raise $14,000.00 in order to purchase this vehicle without any payments or interest. Please pray that God will meet this need quickly as our current van continues to break down. If anyone would like to help with this need please mark your checks "Mexico Van". Last week we had record heat here in El Paso and in Chihuahua, Mexico. The temperature hit 105 degrees several days in a row. This time of year the temps are normally in the high 80's and low 90's. The cooler on the Children's Home dormitories is not working. We know that it has been very uncomfortable and dangerous for the children during this heat wave. Please pray for the $700.00 we will need to fix the cooler. Thank your for your prayers and support of this ministry especially the Children's Home.
