Typhoon Relief
"Apostle Ron,
Thank you so much for the support for typhoon relief. Yesterday we distributed 120 bags of goods, three kilos of rice, soap, dried fish, sugar and coffee to each family. Four barangays (neighborhoods) were the most affected.
Because of the area and their homes being underwater many are sick and asking for medicine and rice. Many children’s feet are swollen from standing in water. One of our church members died from the conditions. His foot was cut by a steel bar while his house was flooded with 6 feet of water. The infection quickly spread through his body causing him to die. We gave some money to the family to help with funeral expenses and food.
The teachers and 5th and 6th grade students (this is from our Christian school in Cotabato City) helped in the evacuation center to cook and distribute food. Every student in the school contributed 30 pesos (70 cents US). We were able to feed 300 children and their parents one meal. (Our students and teachers have on the yellow shirts)
President Gloria Arroyo came to visit Cotabato City to see the disaster in this area. She also saw the pitiful condition of thousands of families living at the evacuation center.
This area is near our church and we are continuing with food and medicine distribution.
Again and again tell the people who have helped us Filipinos thank you, thank you so much.
